What is a firing, and how is it done at Jade Iguana Co.?Firing is essential in pottery, where ceramic pieces are heated in a kiln to turn raw clay into strong, finished products. At Jade Iguana Co, we use two main firing methods: bisque firing and glaze firing. 1. **Bisque Firing:** This first step heats the clay at a lower temperature (about 1,830°F or 1,000°C) to remove moisture and harden the clay for glazing. 2. **Glaze Firing:** After bisque firing, the pieces are glazed for color and texture. They are then heated at a higher temperature (up to 2,300°F or 1,260°C) to melt the glaze, creating a shiny surface and ensuring durability. At Jade Iguana Co, we use top-notch kilns to fire each piece precisely, ensuring the best quality and finish.
